eleanor and alex

Well, I'm officially here. I checked into my dorm at about noon, and it is surprisingly nothing like the pictures on the internet. When you walk in the door you are in the kitchenette, which is actually really nice and includes a microwave, refrigerator, stovetop, and tons of storage space. Unfortunately, there is no kitchen table or eating area, it just goes straight into a hallway with 3 rooms. Two girls live in each room, so that makes 6 girls in our "suite." Here's the best part-we all share one bathroom! I wasn't thrilled about sharing our living space at first, but after meeting the girls-I know this is going to be a blast. Alex is from New Jersey and Eleanor is from Baltimore, and they are super cute and so sweet. My roommate and Eleanor's roommate move in tomorrow. We don't know the 6th girl so let's keep our fingers crossed. Me, mom, and dad walked around the city all day. We picked up some things for my room and walked to Diana Warner Studio, which is 1.3 miles from my dorm. I was able to use my phone to pretty much navigate us all over the city, which makes me feel a lot better about living in a new place. I'm also now a HUGE fan of the Yelp App for Iphone, I think it will definitely come in handy here in NYC. We ate dinner at The Palm, which was amazing. They had the calories listed for each item on the menu, and I like that. I think that every restaurant should have that. They did not, however, have calories listed for the HUGE, AMAZING DESSERTS! I can honestly say that I have never seen a bigger piece of double chocolate cake.

  1. Yeah--Yelp's definitely been helpful for me, too.

I'm glad you're living with a bunch of girls. It really will be a lot more fun.

I think I told you--I heard the buses between here and NYC are super cheap, and a lot of them have wireless internet. Come and see me!
